As photographers, it is something very special and rewarding when we are asked to photograph the wedding of another photographer. When Josh & Jennifer, both talented creatives, asked us to join them in Iowa to photograph their wedding day, we jumped at the opportunity.  They were married on beautiful Lake Okoboji Iowa, where Jennifer spent many years growing up, but Josh & his extended family added their Texas flavor to the mix.  This August day could not have turned out more perfect for them.  The day was filled with funny stories of the newlyweds growing up, strong commitments to their christian devotion and simply more fun than we see at many events.  Here’s a glimpse into a day they’ll never forget!

Katie & Leo have quite the history together.  Matter of fact, it dates back to study hall in the Sauk Prairie High School cafeteria.  Yep, high school sweethearts, but their story continued on through graduation from UW-Madison and a life-changing relocation to Austin, TX.  For the sake of time, I won’t list the many, many, many…accomplishments they have shared together.  Unfortunately, sometimes you lose touch with too many good people after you graduate high school which was the case for me with Katie & Leo.  Through the wonderful, albeit addicting, world of Facebook, Katie had been following our growing company and became a fan of TVS’ work.  So when she messaged me to ask if we would photograph their wedding in July, I was incredibly honored and excited.

Their wedding day could not have turned out any better as their ceremony took place in Olbrich Gardens and the reception took place at The East Side Club.  We had not been to The East Side Club for a reception before, but it has the perfect amount of nostalgia to fit this sweet couple.  On top of that, we had a gorgeous sunset to squeeze in a few more quick portraits that may be some of our favorite to date.

Katie & Leo, congrats to you.  You are two of the most brilliant people I have ever met and thank you so much for the honor to photograph your wedding day.  To be chosen to create the memories you will cherish for a lifetime means the world to us.  Luke & I had a blast!

We get quite close to many of our clients over the course of the time we have together. But it is always a special occasion when we get to photograph someone who we are already quite close to. Just how close?  If you look close enough you’ll find one half of TVS on the wrong side of the camera for this one! Mike and Ben have been the best of friends for many many years. It was my absolute pleasure to capture this day for a couple so very close to one of us. Plus, for just the day I got the lovely and incredibly talented Maureen Cassidy as my partner in crime. I hope you enjoy Ben and Sara’s story as much as the two of us enjoyed taking part in it!
