Photo Illustration by Mike Smith & Tim Burton

For November 2009 assignment I teamed up with Madison Magazine’s art director Tim Burton on an assignment titled “Disappearing Docs”.  The article was about physicians leaving their community practices for more lucrative careers in the medical industry.  Tim’s vision for the shot was a invisible man approach so he asked me to come photograph him in-studio.  While Tim isn’t a photographer by nature, he knows how to do some great composites and for a smaller regional magazine he has the artwork on lock-down.  Often Tim will be unsure what color he wants the covers to be or needs to add a “realistic” touch to an idea he had and so once the photographer shoots and edits the photos Tim takes over from there.
